On a rough night off Colwyn Bay on the 29th September 1991 a coaster ran aground and ended up on the sea front of nearby Rhos-on-Sea. The Cortes registered coaster "MARGA" (ex-Margit) was on a voyage from Belfast to Llanddulas to load stone. The vessel broke its moorings while anchored 2 miles out and ended up on the beach damaging a slipway. Marga was stuck for a further 2 days until enough high water and assistance with tugs. She suffered damage to her astern end and ended up in a dry dock at Birkenhead for inspection. During that time of the year it was also an added attraction for tourist.
